It turns out that Nina has problems at home; Annie tries to understand, especially when Nina wants to make up, but there is less and less to like about Nina. Finally, Annie stands up for herself, breaks away, and finds new friends. Quarrels make fine drama, and the dialogue is fast and packed with juicy insult. The story is all the more convincing because it is true to Annie's viewpoint. She never articulates that her friend is bossy and overbearing, but kids will recognize Annie's bewilderment, hurt, and anger. Illustrations not seen in galley. Hazel Rochman

If U Hate Your best friend why are U still friends with them

I was terrofied with this book. It didn't even make sense. It made no sense what so ever. If they hate eachother why are they best friends? I read it twice and I still didn't understand it. What kind of moral is this! Hi I hate my best friend. They both cared only for themselves. I don't reccomend this book one bit.

My 7 year old LOVES this book!

She has read it at least 3 times. I think it helps her understand that sometimes there is a reason for friends to change. The end of the story sums up young girls these days. It's hard to be friends all of the time and you really need to think first before you make comments that will hurt your friends.

About the Author
Isaac Elchanan Mozeson (b. 1951 in British Columbia) grew up in Plymouth and Brookline, Mass. He taught English at universities like Yeshiva College (where he got his B.A.) and New York University, where he completed doctoral studies. Mozeson published a monograph and anthology of poetry, reviewed books for Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, and others, and co-authored books on Jewish history, homelessness, Israel and urban slang. Since various editions of The Word (1989), Mozeson founded Edenics, and heads a group of global researchers. Some of the volunteers, and samples of the data are at www.edenics.org. Edenics posts, word searches, and Edenics word games are at www.edenics.net. In January 2010 Mozeson moved to Israel.

Amazing book for word lovers

Issac Mozeson's lovely Origin of Speeches Ed.2 Is a must read for language enthusiasts who Wonder at the amazing world of human speech. Mozeson is of the burgeoning Monogenesis of Language school of linguists
Who see what clearly seems to be Proto Semitic roots in almost every word in every world language. Mozeson's Proto Hebrew DERECH chart clearly shows the DeReCH, Hebrew for road, way, journey (Dental- Liquid- Guttural combinations ) in nearly 60 languages. In plain English we have DiReCtion, TRucK and
TReK. Many others. In Russian we have DaRoGa. Way, Road. Japanese has DoRo, road. Hindi has TaRah. Etc Etc.

Is this by accident? Coincidence? Mozeson claims to have for all to see more than 50,000
such world words linked to the Proto Semitic Hebrew roots in his magnificent E -Word digital dictionary as originally noted in his groundbreaking The Word -The Dictionary that Reveals the Hebrew Source of English.

Mozeson shows how weak many IE roots are compared to the Hebrew. AGRICULTURE comes to mind. Mozeson writes " A field of AGRICULTURAL words has been harvested, processed and distilled to the Indo-European "root" agro (field). Agros (field) is Greek; aecer (field or ACRE) is Old English. The older German term for one who worked his ACRE was ackermann.
EeKaR in very ancient biblical Hebrew is a farmer. The plural EeKaR eeYM are the "Farmers and vinedressers" (or husbandmen in older translations) referred to in IIChronicles26:10. "

In The Origin of Speeches Isaac asks if one really accepts the thesis that sophisticated human language like Psalms and Shakespeare perhaps) evolved from millions of years of monkey and cave man grunts. The alternative is hard for moderns to accept too. That once in deepest antiquity there was one universal speech of all mankind and that a kind of "neuro-lingustic big bang" , as Mozeson calls it, "confounded" this Universal Tongue into the "70" biblical cited languages. Yes, Bible lovers know that Genesis 11:1 clearly states right before the Tower of Babel (source of BABBLE) story which follows that ALL THE EARTH WAS ONE SPEECH. Kol HaAReTZ SaPHah ECHaD.

Hebrew for source, root, As Mozeson says, here is clear sound plus sense.

Often "flaccid" 19th century biased linguists are not going all - the- way , to the Fertile Crescent source for Human language genome. A HORSE means nothing in English . Mozeson sources HORSE to Hebrew plower - ChoReSH. SKUNK means nothing in English but the Native Americans named it thus . The Hebrew word TSaKaN , stinker , comes to mind. Further in the wonderful Animal Names chapter in OOS 2 are many others. I especially like his etymon for GIRRAFE. Means nothing in English but in Proto Hebrew , best exemplified by the Torah, Jewish bible, GHoRRef means - Neck!

This book opened my eyes. (and ears).. The Origin Of Speeches Edition 2 will make you see and hear the English words from the Proto Semitic, (Mozeson calls it Edenic) hidden right under your nose. Finally if HALLELUYA is acknowledged by all to be the Hebrew Praise (HaLLeL)
Ya (God) then why not accept Mr. Mozeson's claim that HAIL , as in HaiL to the chief, is derived from the same HaLLel, Praise word?

This volume is a must for language aficionados world over.

Interesting theory

While too jargon-ridden to be considered light reading, it nevertheless presents an interesting theory, one which was considered the standard for many years, before our current bunch of "there's-never-been-anyone-as-smart-as-we-are" academics started attacking it. The author discusses some of the tens of thousands of examples he has found, in multiple languages, and how modern liguists are beginning to believe that, at one time, there was a single, common language on earth - as long as it wasn't similar to Hebrew! He also gives examples of Hebrew etymologies being stripped from dictionaries; for example, the word "amen" still shows a Hebrew past, but the similar word "amenable," with a similar meaning (though a different part of speech) does not.

You will also find that the education we received in the west was not completely objective, having censored the contributions of the Hebrew language and civilization to western society. This censorship occurred only relatively recently. It is not hard to reclaim a fuller narrative, and this book will help you along the way.

A jewel in the crown

This musical failed after only 9 performances. It's too bad because it boasted Arthur Laurents, Stephen Sondheim, Herbet Ross, and David Merrick among its credits. The book was published 10 years after it closed using the last existant script known. It's the story of a town so broke that they fake a miracle to bring in pilgrims who'll spend their money on it. Through a convoluted, although fascinating plot and characters that you really have to pay attention to the story unfolds. No spoiler here. It is tightly written and the "break" between spoken and sung word is seamless on paper. This is a good book for anyone who loves Sondheim, Laurents, or the theater in general to have. It will take a lot of visualization and multiple reads to get it all (it also helps to have the cast album - not the concert one with Kahn, but the original one with Lansbury). If you really want to be challenhed and entertained get this.

One of the best scores ever written...

Although this show was short-lived it was still one of the best shows not only of the 60s but of the whole century! This show has it all! A little bit of farce, some regular comedy, music, some drama, and some melodrama! This is a musical for people no matter what their tastes! Sondheim's music lifts you up and breaks your heart and you still wind up loving it!

This is one of the most hilarious, yet intelligent and moving shows one can ever read. Even without hearing Mr. Sondheim's delightfully flowing melodies one can still find enjoyment in Mr. Laurent's book and Sondheim's lyrics.

Simon and Kat are back!

Dare Me Again is a follow-up, short and sexy novella to Karin Tabke's The Chronicles of Katrina. We get to follow Kat and Simon's life after they marry and are expecting their first child. This story is an insight into their hectic lives and their Christmas getaway to the mountains. However, when an unexpected visitor shows up, Kat's life and that of their unborn child are put in danger.

I won't ever tire of these two characters, especially that hot cop, Simon. However, there were a couple things that kept me from five stars. Not to say I didn't enjoy this story, because I wholeheartedly did, but Simon is such a "by the book" cop that I was a little surprised at his solution to the problem. But, then again, I'm not surprised that he would do anything for the woman he loves. The other thing is Simon's niece. In the Chronicles of Katrina she was Olivia. In this book, she was Gracie. It bugs me when character's names change from one book to another.

I love Karin's books and can't wait for her to continue Kat and Simon's story. In the meantime, I look forward to her next book in her Bad Boys of the Bay series. She is a must-read author for me and I always recommend her books.

I missed Simon and Kat and am thankful to the beautiful Karin that she wrote a holiday book about these two love birds. This is a short story but still tingling to read. I love the passion of these two. I love the text, so sexy and so hot. I wish my husband can text like Simon lol. Evan escaped and almost ruin Kat's Christmas holiday with her husband. I love this book and will recommend it to everybody.

I absolutely adore this couple!! How they got together and how their relationship developed was "epic" (lol). I was glad to see that although life has changed for them their commitment and devotion to each other has not. I'm sooooo looking forward for more from them as it was left wide open for more. Can't wait. It was a nice (although short) treat for the holidays.

Some great concepts, but perhaps pushing the boundaries a bit

Light bulb moment: Wheelwright's stress on the concept that the bulk of the tax code is there to provide incentives for doing one thing or another, and that you can be a lot wealthier by choosing to actively participate in ways the tax system rewards. I really hadn't thought about it in that particular way, but he's spot on. His corollary -- finding a tax accountant who can prospectively guide you into thinking through ideas in this tax-efficient way is also a really good one. I've spent a lot of time learning about my taxes, but this new vantage point has given me a lot of really good ideas that I'll be working on over the next few years, and that will certainly influence some restructuring of my business. (The concept of having one type of entity -- like an S corp -- being a member of another -- like an LLC -- in order to put activities and expenditures in the most helpful place was really illuminating.)

However, the continued statements that anything can be deducted if you just handle it the right way are disingenuous, and some people may try to stretch and get into completely indefensible situations based on his broad and often repeated statement. Everything is not potentially deductible. It is also a very padded book, with the author stretching to increase the word count to make it "book length".

Still it is a helpful book if the ideas are taken with a grain of salt, and it has really helped me think about taxes in a different way.

The Good, The Bad, and The ehh...

For what it's worth, the book is a good value for the money and here I'll attempt to present my honest overview of what it is, what you can expect, and what not to expect.

The book is written in plain English and attempts to explain in a straightforward way how taxes work and how as an investor you can benefit from the tax code, and what to be careful with. He does this by giving a few examples along the way that illustrate his point. To that I will add that some of his advice is overly vague filled with very general rules that the average person may find themselves scratching their heads, thinking, would that even apply to me, or, what the ____? I say this because the tax code is 10s of thousand of pages long and there is no way that a non technical book with about 250 pages is going to even scratch the surface of the behemoth that we have all come to love and embrace.

Overall the price to value ratio is pretty good regardless of your income tax IQ, even if you get nothing new of value it's an entertaining read. The shortcoming is actually part of it's strength, ease of use. But, by making the book simple, they also sacrificed substance and made a good portion of it vague with for example, he writes I believe 5 short paragraphs amounting to about 1 page on agricultural tax credits. Preceded by 1 paragraph dealing with mining and another about renewable energy which basically tell you nothing.

If you are a fan (or student) of the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series, and understand those basic principles, but may feel as if you are still missing a piece of the puzzle toward building wealth----then you must read this book. This book will fill that void.

This book ties all the Rich Dad principles together and demonstrates how and why they work to build vast wealth over a lifetime---and beyond---for generations to come. I truly understand now why the old adage of "the rich just keep getting richer" is so true: the tax code.

However, be warned that this book may seem somewhat controversial to some due to its right-wing political overtones. I can see how those from the left may get offended by what this book teaches: using the tax code to pay very little tax; or legally paying no taxes while having other people pay them for you.

This book may also be offensive to some who may experience an "Ah-ha!" moment when they realize how their own political leaders use the tax code to become very, very wealthy. Meanwhile those leaders hypocritically campaign that they are "working for the little guy" while surreptitiously robbing their own constituency though the legal use of the tax code. This reality is rife with irony.

I don't think Wheelwright had the intention for this book to be confrontational. However, the truth hurts, and this book demonstrates the truth of why "the rich" get rich----and stay rich.
