About the Author
Harold D. Lasswell wrote widely on the theory and technique of propaganda and other methods of managing collective attitudes. His book, Propaganda Technique in the World War is regarded as the definitive study in this field. He is also the author of two other volumes, Psychopathology and Politics and World Politics and Personal Insecurity: A Contribution to Political Psychiatry, and of the article on propaganda in the Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences. Ralph D. Casey had wide experience in the fields of journalism and publicity. He was for a number of years on the editorial staff – for a time as a political writer – of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and later on the staff of the New York Herald. He taught journalism at the Universities of Montana, Washington, Oregon, and Minnesota. In the field of publicity he served as assistant publicity director of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce and as director of the University of Oregon News Bureau. Bruce Lannes Smith is author (with Glenn C. Quiett) of Principles of Publicity, and editor of the Journalism Quarterly. He was a former president of the American Association of Schools and Departments of Journalism.

Bruce Smith is professor of English and creative writing at Syracuse University and the author of four books of poems. His most recent collection, The Other Lover, also published by the University of Chicago Press, was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

Third, the higher metaphysics of the Neoplatonists taught Augustine, and indirectly Descartes, to look for truth within themselves. The Neoplatonists struggled with the question whether our higher intellectual selves have distinct individuality, and thus they fed both sides in the great medieval debate between Aquinas and the followers of Averroes on individual human immortality. Evita Broadway Score Excellent Addition!

The Broadway score of Evita is an excellent addition to any songbook library. It includes most of the popular songs, but more importantly, includes the entire libretto to this Broadway masterpiece. There are some great pictures of Patti LuPone (stunning in this role) as well as Mandy Patinkin, both tony winners, in their respective parts. The music is an intermediate mix, giving challenge to the piano player yet, still a lot of fun with all of it's rhythms and variations. I suggest getting this for anyone who likes musicals and Andrew Lloyd Webber!

Great Showtunes

"Evita" is one of my favorite musicals of all times and it is a treat for me to play these song and many have become favorites.

This book contains the main songs from the musical - "On This Night of a Thousand Stars", "Eva Beware of the City", "Buenos Aires", "I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You", "Another Suitcase in Another Hall", "Don't Cry for me Argentina". "High Flying Adored", " Rainbow High", "And the Money Kept Rolling In (and Out)", "The Waltz for Eva and Che", "She is a Diamond".

For the advanced piano player, this should be a breeze. So far, my favorite songs to play are "I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You", "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" and "Rainbow High" (this one is a bit challenging for me). I noticed that the song "Buenos Aires" is an earlier arrangement and for the singers, some of these arrangements do not play the melody line and at times I got a bit confused when singing along. For instance Eva's solo in "Eva Beware of the City", the verse's in "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", "I am a Diamond", "Buenos Aires" etc. Also note that this book is for the stage musical and not the film so if you are wanting the lovely "You Must Love Me", the song written specifically for the movie, then get the movie songbook instead - Evita. Since I do not own the movie songbook, I do not know if the arrangements are similar.

This version does contain some pictures of the Broadway production, a synopsis and complete libretto of the stage show and is highly recommended for fans of the musical, Webber or for anyone who loves to play great showtunes.

In my opinion this book is great. It covers all the basic stuff that you need to know about food microbiology. It is not in depth, but covers just all the things that you need to know. I like it a lot.

Needs some improvement.

I am a bit sorry I bought this book. What I paid is too much for what it is. What it is is a book containing information that is readily available on the Internet. Now, I knew that would probably be the case, but I bought it anyway. There seems to be confusion between self-hosting and web service hosting. While the plugin information is somewhat helpful, the editing is not optimal, with repetition of poorly-phrased instructions and details. What is not explained well the first time does not improve with the repetition. It looks like it was cut and pasted a lot. I might buy this book at this price, but not the $45 I paid for it in the airport so I would have something to read on the plane.

Very Misleading Book

This book is misleading. At the end of most chapters it includes a reference to online videos and where you can find them on the WROX site. (So far so good.) It also says, "You will also be able to download resources for this lesson from the website." This is where it's misleading, because THERE ARE NO RESOURCES for lessons on the website. What there are is lists of WordPress plug-ins. There should be some text and images that would be used to produce the book's sample "Island Travel" site, but I cannot find any such resources.

If the way you want to learn a new piece of software is by following along on examples, you'll be disappointed in this book. It gives the misleading impression that you will be creating an "Island Travel" website. That's the impression you're going to get from skimming this book in a retail store. Then, after you've spent a considerable amount of time (too much time to return the book), you'll find that it is NOT what you bargained for.

Stay away from George Plumley!!!

Besides discussing data representation, arithmetic operations, boolean algebra and its application in designing combinatorial and sequential switching circuits, the book introduces the algorithmic state machines which are used to develop a hardware description language for the design of digital systems. The organization of a small hypothetical computer is described to illustrate how instruction sets are evolved. Real computers (namely, pentium and mips machines) are described and compared with the hypothetical computer. After discussing the features of a cpu, i/o devices and i/o organization, cache and virtual memory, the book concludes with a new chapter on the use of parallelism to enhance the speed of computers. Besides, the fifth edition has new material in cmos gates, msi/alu and pentium5 architecture. The chapter on cache and virtual memory has been rewritten.
