It helped keep the practices fresh and fun for the girls while supplying me as a coach with all of the information I needed to run each drill. I cannot speak highly enough about this book. About the Author
Geoff Martz attended Dartmouth College and Columbia University, joining The Princeton Review in 1985 as a teacher and writer. Martz headed the development team that designed the Review's GMAT course. He is the author or coauthor of Cracking the ACT, Paying for College, Cracking the GED, and How to Survive Without Your Parents' Money.

Laurie Pearson graduated from Barnard College in 1990, and joined The Princeton Review as a teacher and development person.

Who said studying can't be fun?

The reason I bought this book is really for my husband. He was "distracted" in high school. We've been doing very good without his H.S. diploma but I wanted him to at least take the GED. I picked this one, first, beacause of it's title. It wasn't so "formal" like the other ones. This actually sounded pretty "casual." Secondly, because of the Princeton GED tests they have in the back. That really helped us a lot (I'm his "tutor":)). Lastly, and the best reason to buy this book is that it's funny. What I mean by that is that they don't try to bore the life out of you. They teach you really helpful things but they word it in ways that the subject keeps your attention. My husband was never the "school" type but amazingly he reads Craking the GED voluntarily and he TESTS himself!!!I even catch him smiling to himself while studying sometimes! In conclusion, if you want to get the GED over with but don't want to hire someone to hold your eyes open...Buy the book.It's GREAT! It's PERFECT for teenagers also.

Great study aid!

I really liked this book. The writers wrote in a way that was interesting and easy to understand. They were able to catch and keep my attention which was surpising, but I also agreed with the other reviewer when he/she said that there should have been more detailed explanations. For example, in the math section there are a lot helpful practice problems which I liked, except when I turned to the back of the book to check my answers and I got one or two incorrect, it told me the right answer, but didn't really explain why that was the right answer. So, since I had no idea how they got that answer I had no idea how to fix the mistake I made doing the problem. Still, besides that one drawback, in my opinion the book was great. It was very thorough, comprehendable and written in a laid back manner. I passed the GED simply from studying this book alone. I reccomend this book to anyone reading this review.

Before I applied to do my GED I came to this site and read about all the study guides available . This book definately got the best reviews .I went to the libarary and found only the Arco test books which were ok but when I bought this book it just made everything easier and less complicated.It explained things in great detail and best of all it told you the things that are most likely to come up in the test.When I went to do my exams I found the book very acurate in its predictions. I am glad to say that I passed with pretty good scores .So to all those who come after me good luck and get the book it is definately worth it.

A hugely important work on sexuality and gender in the Classical World

Since the previous reviewer loved the book, but his review was deemed somewhat unhelpful (I thought it was fine), I thought I'd add a bit. This book pretty much kickstarted the exploration of sexuality and gender in the Classical World. There were other works before it, particularly on gender, but the publication of The Constraints of Desire was one of those events that helped a particular area of study achieve critical mass, so to speak. If you have an interest in these topics, it will pretty much be assumed that you've absorbed what he has to say.
The previous reviewer is quite right to spotlight Chapter 2. For me, when I read it as an undergraduate, it was of importance far beyond even the study of sexuality and gender. What Winkler helps one understand is one area of many where our own categories and horizons of expectation prohibit us from understanding another culture. Steeped in more modern methodologies of cultural and social history than Classicists usually were at the time, he was able to tear down the terribly ineffective framework of interpretation which he inherited and build a new one.
While not critical to the appreciation of the work itself, on a biographical note, there is something both sad and inspiring about an author who struggled to reconcile his Faith and his sexuality and ultimately left the church (he was a Benedictine) to become a scholar who taught at Yale and Stanford. Sadly, he died at age 46. Having studied under some people who had known him personally as colleagues, I can say that his death was a great personal as well as professional loss to the community. So, in addition to its great value as scholarship, the book is treated with a certain amount of (I think merited) reverence. Not that it stopped anyone from engaging with it critically.

It's a very readable and well researched book about the sex and gender in ancient Greece.
I recommend it for everybody who is interested in the Greek history, gynaikologia, sexologia, and anthoropologia.

There are no page numbers. The right margins are not justified. The text appears to have been typed, and the font is small. There is some solid information in this book. I would recommend looking at Charles Cosimano's books first, however, to get the basics. He may have put them up on his website, for free download, or so I've heard. The author seems to have not gotten out of first chakra issues, like fighting with others, using his methods. That isn't necessarily bad- one develops methods- however, it's not my focus. Life is about getting out of that, and into the more spiritual levels, at least for me. The book suggests far more than it covers. It is short, though packed with useful information. He does correctly note that a quartz crystal itself is a radionic device, that's not something many realize. The copper wires, potentiometers, etc. are interesting, and fun to play with. Intuition Technology discusses the use of radionic diagrams, which also work. The book is technically good, but I would have to say morally somewhat lacking, rather like Cosimano's works. I have no interest in fighting, myself. The primary psychotronic device is of course consciousness, and devices are crutches, though fun to play with. If you have a serious interest in this, by all means get the book, just understand that it won't give you everything under one cover.

This is a very small book, not very long. It offers very specific practical instructions -- nice --, without getting very much into the how and why of construction -- not so nice --. The author is very focused on magical warfare -- yuck --, so if that's your bag, you might love this book, but I sure don't.

Life Changing!

Strategies: The Magic Key book is a revealing look into our own needs as a person. We all share these needs and yet most often aren't aware of the role they are playing in our own lives.

Author Ken Keacher breaks these needs down and shows us how we can incorporate that understanding to enhance the quality of our lives and that is a priceless gift of understanding! As a Passionate Living Life Coach, I found Strategies: The Magic Key to be very insightful and useful for myself and my clients.

I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Must have resource for Life Coaches

This book is an excellent basis for self-improvement. He provides a short history lesson and introduces you to an alternate approach using human needs psychology. This is a very easy read and structured to provide the reader a useful and effective new toolset to change his/herself in positive and productive ways. I promise you that if you try the concepts here, you WILL find old problems in life melt away. Your new strategy will be to be who you really are. What better gift to give yourself than to be authentically you?

The content and the writing is just outstandingly carried out. It really is my pleasure to say that so happy to see finally someone with passionate knowledge to write a book on human needs.
