I DARE you to find me a 1 1/2 quart jar!

Most of these recipes (over half) call for 1 1/2 quart jars. This is a very non-standard size, at least in Indiana, less than an hour away from the makers of Ball Jars... The recipes that use standard sized jars were all fine, the recipes worked well and the recipe cards detached nicely and so on. But considering that I won't be able to use more than half the recipes in the book because of the jar issue, it doesn't matter how nice the rest are.
If you can pick this up for a couple bucks and you need gift ideas, go for it, though. My 9 year old is putting these together as holiday gifts for her friends.

Not always in a jar

I made these recipes as party favors for a baby shower for my daughter. We put the mixes in zip-type plastic bags and then put them into decorated white kraft lunch bags. We rubber stamped the bags with "Its a Girl" and other baby items in the coordinating pink and green color theme. Although not in a jar, everyone loved that they were able to choose a recipe they wanted to try and they were a big hit. We also served some of the recipes at the shower.

Great For Any Kind of Gift

I was given a box of canning jars and immediately thought about doing this. The book is filled with so many recipes and instructions for the dry ingredients that go into the jar. It has the recipe cards to hang on the finished jar. You can top the jar with a "hat" made from material or colorful paper. It makes a great gift for anyone from a co-worker to your mail carrier or a neighbor. All they have to do is add the eggs and any other wet ingredients, follow the instructions on the enclosed card and bake something yummy like cookies or brownies, etc.
